Daar bracht hij zijn jeugd door en volgde hij een opleiding tot kleermaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1937 vertrok Max uit Duitsland om via Amsterdam naar Middelburg te komen. Hier vestigde hij zich in februari 1938 als kleermaker op de Stationsstraat 22. Later verhuisde hij naar de Nadorstweg 28. In deze jaren lijkt hij samengeleefd te hebben met Maria Anna Karolina Aloisia Schrettenseger. Samen kregen zij een kind dat aanvankelijk als onwettig werd beschouwd, maar in augustus 1951 op verzoek van de moeder door de rechtbank in Middelburg ge\u00ebcht werd, omdat naar Duits recht aan het \u2018vrije huwelijk\u2019 de rechtsgevolgen van een wettig huwelijk werden toegekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drie jaar na zijn komst naar Middelburg besloot hij Nederland te verlaten. De Provinciale Zeeuwse Courant van 3 maart 1941 meldde dat kleermaker M.I. Fischer naar Frankrijk was vertrokken. Hoe hij de resterende oorlogsjaren doorkwam, is niet bekend.
